Find Out How To Come Up With A Low Priced Poster Body
Monday, April 16th, 2012“
The first step when building your own cheap poster frame is to decide exactly how wide you want the actual frame to be. For instance, if you want the edges to be skinny you will want to purchase some 1 x 2s from the local lumber yard. If you want the edges wider, than purchase wider lumber.
Before cutting any of the wood, be sure to measure the height and width of the poster that you want to protect and show off. Cut the wood accordingly, making sure that all the edges are cut at an exact 45 degree angle. If you do not have a table mounted chop saw to accomplish this task, use a miter saw. Never use a skill saw or hand saw because it is almost impossible to get the angles exact in this manner.
Attach the outer framing pieces together by using a staple gun, with longer sized stables, and attach the corners after you have them tightly together.
Repeat this step for all four sides, making sure that the 45 degree edges line up perfectly before moving on. Now you need to router the front, inner edge so that there is a lip for the glass to sit on. Make sure to take your time so that you do not get a ledge that is too wide or too narrow.
Begin routing with the blade set high, and then adjust it downward if needed. After the cheap poster frame is made, place the glass into it from the back side. If the piece does not rest snuggly on the ledge, then you may need to cut more wood off with the router, or re-cut the piece of glass, depending if the ledge is too small or too large. Place the poster on top of the glass, and then secure a piece of cardboard onto the back of the cheap poster frame.
